My mother’s death was a monumental moment in our family’s life. After 30 years with MS and 2 years with Bowel Cancer (non treated) Mum had very very specific needs for her end of life care and indeed death. Our mother died at home as she always wished and whilst it was a very difficult death we found comfort in one thing – we had found the “right” person to look after Mum once she had gone. From facilitating the donation of Mums brain and spinal chord to the MS tissue bank to the assurance of no music and very simple cremation, I was assured that Gary Burdett and his colleagues would do everything as Mum wished. And he (they) did.
Mum was taken into care from her home with great ease and lightness. From the outset Gary ensured we could be the quirky little clan we are. We laughed in the darkest of times and we felt we could be honest and “us” at every step.
Gary and the dogs gave us comfort when we popped in to check something but it wasn’t ever morbid, sad or upsetting; our dealings were respectful and he very quickly mould to our way of being, making every step of this process so much easier.
From our little family to yours we thank you and more importantly on behalf of my Mum thank you soooo much for making everything happen exactly as she wanted. You are and always will be a Top Bloke
